The cicadas make their appearance in Loveland every 17 years and this is the year! We can hear the "cicada music" even when we are inside with the doors closed and air condition running. Here are a few pictures from our back yard.
This is an empty "shell." They come up out of the ground looking like this and then shed their shell.
When they crawl out of their shell they look like this! They don't bite, sting, buzz, or harm the plants, but they do come out of nowhere and dive-bomb you. Yikes!
This tree trunk and the leaves are loaded.

YUK! Did you make some Cicada cookies?
EWWWW They are NASTY!! I'm REALLY not enjoying them but thank goodness we don't have that many around our house as there are in other places!!
